Feeding Kifu our homemade granola

Check the Ingredients

Some common granola ingredients can be harmful to pets (especially dogs or cats, depending on what Kifu is):
🚫 Toxic Ingredients to Avoid:

  • Chocolate (highly toxic)

  • Xylitol (artificial sweetener, deadly for dogs)

  • Raisins/grapes (can cause kidney failure in dogs)

  • Macadamia nuts (toxic to dogs)

  • Excessive sugar or salt

✅ Pet-Safe Granola Ingredients:

  • Plain oats

  • Peanut butter (xylitol-free)

  • Pumpkin seeds

  • Coconut flakes (unsweetened)

  • Apples or bananas (in moderation)

2. Moderation is Key

Even if the granola is safe, it should only be an occasional treat. Granola can be high in fats and sugars, which may upset their stomach or lead to weight gain.

3. Species-Specific Advice

  • If Kifu is a dog: Small amounts of plain, nut-free, and xylitol-free granola may be okay.

  • If Kifu is a cat: Cats are obligate carnivores, so granola isn’t necessary (and they may not even like it).

  • If Kifu is a bird/rodent: Some seeds and oats may be fine, but avoid sugary additives.
